You can set both graphs to display a portfolio’s Gross (before taxes and fees) or its Net (after taxes and fees) performance.
Note: An Advisor determines exactly which taxes and fees are included or excluded from a portfolio’s performance when either option is set, so please understand that Gross performance may include the effect of some taxes or fees in its calculations and Net performance may exclude the effect of some taxes or fees in its calculations.
To select either option:
-
Click the second arrow to right at the top of the widget
-
Click Gross or Net in the Return Options menu that opens
When you first sign in to Client Portal the Performance Comparison widget displays the Gross performance of a portfolio and the portfolio’s assigned benchmark on the Cumulative graph, so you can immediately see how well this portfolio has performed relative to a set of similar assets during the date range you choose.
The assigned benchmark is listed under the date options at the top of the widget.
Note: If there is no recorded performance for the assigned benchmark, the first asset class with recorded performance data will appear instead. If no comparable item has recorded performance data, the widget will only display the performance for the portfolio.
You can also set the widget to measure the performance of the portfolio and your chosen comparable items in different currencies by clicking the left-most arrow at the top of the widget and selecting one of the following options in the Display Currency menu:
-
Performance Currency – Measures the performance of a portfolio and your chosen comparable items using a currency of the portfolio holder’s Advisor set for it (typically the portfolio holds some securities in this currency)
-
Account Currency – Measures the performance of a portfolio and comparable items using the currency that is used to open the account, which is the default currency used to measure activities throughout Client Portal and report earnings
Note: The Account currency option is only available when your chosen comparable item has performance recorded in that currency. Due to this, when you sign in to Client Portal, the widget displays performance in a default Performance Currency set by an Advisor.
